Bomb threat shuts down Port Jervis parking lot

PORT JERVIS – A bomb threat that wound up being unfounded, resulted in the closure of the municipal parking lot at the intersection of Pike and Hammond streets in Port Jervis on Sunday afternoon.
A parked vehicle was found with a note taped to it saying there was a bomb inside it.
The area was cleared as a State Police explosives detection K-9 searched the vehicle and surrounding area with no bombs or other explosives being detected. The area was cleared about 1 ½ hours later.
The incident is being investigated by the Detective Division of Port Jervis City Police. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 845-856-5101 or 845-858-4003. All calls will be kept confidential.
