WURTSBORO – A 79-year-old
Wurtsboro man died Thursday afternoon when a fire erupted in the kitchen
of his home at 66 Arbutus Trail.
State Police said Sheldon Rafkin was unable to get out of the house, was
overcome by smoke and was found dead inside.
His son-in-law, Paul Ludwig, 52, who was with him, was able to escape.
Wurtsboro firefighters extinguished the blaze. The Sullivan County Medical
Examiner and State Police were also on the scene.
The exact cause of the fire has not been determined.
