NEWBURGH – The administration in Newburgh is going to develop a comprehensive study of its city-owned buildings and facilities and their needs and uses.
The discussion will begin in the new year, said City Manager Michael Ciaravino.
“That involves our safety center that is deteriorating to all of the buildings that the city is in control of. One of the most important things that we are looking at is whether the assets can generate revenue, what are the assets that are valuable but are no longer necessary to hold in our portfolio and what is our short-, mid- and long-term plans to house our safety forces,” Ciaravino said.
Newburgh is facing a dilemma with the need to spend a significant amount of money to upgrade or replace its public safety building, constructed in the 1970s, and laden with many structural and environmental issues.
