Child struck while getting off Ramapo school bus

RAMAPO – A 14-year-old boy was getting off a school bus in Ramapo Thursday evening and was struck by a passing vehicle.
Ramapo Town Police said the bus was stopped in the right lane of Route 59 near the intersection of North Saddle River Road just before 7 p.m. on Thursday letting students off. The boy was crossing in front of the bus when he was struck by an SUV traveling in the same direction on Route 59 in the left hand turn lane.
The child was transported to Westchester Medical Center by Hatzolah Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by Ramapo Police with no tickets immediately issued.
