Grandma scam returns to the area

RAMAPO – Police in the Town of Ramapo are warning residence of a telephone scam that has victimized at least three residents in the last week.
During the scam, the victim, usually an elderly person receives a phone call from a person who purports to be his or her grandchild. The caller tells the victim that he or she has been arrested and that the grandchild needs bail money sent right away via MoneyGram.
Police are currently investigating the recent scams and urge anyone who has been victimized to call them at 845-357-2400.
