FISHKILL – One person is dead and another is in critical condition following a crash between an SUV and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 84 in the Town of Fishkill Tuesday afternoon.
State Police said the fatal victim was the passenger in the SUV and was dead at the scene. The driver suffered internal injuries and was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
At around 2:39 p.m., the SUV was westbound, crossed into the center grassy median and into the opposite lanes where it was hit by the eastbound truck. The truck driver sustained minor injuries.
Eastbound I-84 was closed for hours as authorities investigated the accident.
