Former priest charged with felony sex crimes

BREWSTER – State Police have arrested a 68-year-old Hopewell Junction
man on felony counts of criminal sexual act and sexual abuse.

Joseph Faraone is a former pastor of St. James Church in Carmel and St.
Denis Church in Hopewell Junction as well as churches in Mount Kisco and
Yorktown Heights.

Faraone, an employee of a local non-for-profit human service organization,
was arrested after an investigation by State Police and the Putnam County
District Attorney’s Office found that he had sexual contact with
a 50-year-old female patient who was unable to consent.

Faraone was arraigned and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of
$50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to
call the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Brewster at
