POUGHKEEPSIE – A popular community activist has passed away. John Flowers of Poughkeepsie was a well-known figure in the city.
“With his vibrant smile, boundless energy and unfailing generosity, John Flowers made our community a better place,” said Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro. “He inspired countless people to share their time, talent and treasure to help make other peoples’ lives brighter.”
Molinaro, who called Flowers his friend, said he is “thankful for
his kindness and inspiration.”  He said Flowers’ good
work should be continued “by giving back to the community he loved
– a community that loves him.”
“John Flowers, the godfather of our city, was a community fixture
whose love for Poughkeepsie inspired all those lucky enough to have known
this remarkable man. His legacy of compassion, hope, and hard work will
live on in the Queen City,” said County Legislature Chairman Robert
Rolison.
