POUGHKEEPSIE – Authorities are working to identify the skeletal remains of a man found along the shoreline of the Hudson River south of Prospect Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.
A boater on the Hudson River spotted the remains on July 19.
They were identified by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office as human and there appears to be no sign of any traumatic cause of death, police said.
Det. Sgt. John Zeltmann said they are conducting a wide-ranging investigation into missing persons’ reports.
“There are a few and we are working and trying to identify those remains and we are comparing them to our missing persons reports; not only ours, but other agencies,” he said.
Zeltmann said it could not be determined how long the person was there.
