PEEKSKILL – Police in Peekskill arrested a Peekskill man in connection with a series of tire slashing incidents that occurred in the city in early June.
Kaylen Lipford, 22, a resident of Mackeller Court, was arrested on July 24 at the Westchester County Jail where he is serving weekends following a conviction on an unrelated charge.
Lipford was charged with criminal mischief after the county crime lab notified police that a sample of blood collected from one of the several slashed tires on June 2 matched Lipford’s DNA, which was on file.
Peekskill Police Chief Eric Johansen credited Officer Anthony Nappi with noticing a small portion of blood on one of the tires and notifying Detective John Merritt who collected the evidence. Lab analysis pointed to Lipford as the suspect.
Police are continuing to investigate other tire slashing incidents that occurred between May 30 and June 3.
Lipford was returned to the Westchester County Jail pending appearance in Peekskill City Court.
