Marryshow

KINGSTON – An Ulster County Court jury found a man guilty of armed bank robbery.  The jury returned a verdict on Monday finding Jahson Marryshow guilty of robbery, arson and grand larceny.
Marryshow was convicted of the June 30, 2010 plan to rob the Bank of America branch in Woodstock. Evidence at trial showed he stole a car from a driveway in Bearsville and drove it to Shady. There, he set an unoccupied barn on fire.
The arson was set as a diversion. As police and rescue personnel responded to the arson site, Marryshow drove to the bank where he robbed it while wearing a mask and ski goggles.
The stolen car was later found in a wooded area in Woodstock near Marryshow’s home. Police found his fingerprint and DNA inside the vehicle.
Shortly after the robbery, Marryshow was questioned by police, denied involvement but agreed to take a polygraph test, which he failed.
He later fled and it took four years to find him.
“We had different leads to find him here and there over the years,” said Ulster County District Attorney Holley Carnright.  “The folks I work with, they just never give up. We finally found him and brought him back. I couldn’t be happier that the jury saw it our way.”
Marryshow was not apprehended until September 2014 when he was arrested by the US Marshals Service in Eugene, Oregon.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office was the lead investigating agency, assisted by State Police, Woodstock Police, Ulster County Emergency Services, state fire investigators and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
