NEW YORK – A Slate Hill man is one of three who were convicted Monday on charges that they parachuted off One World Trade Center at 3 a.m. on September 30, 2013.
Andrew Rossig, 34, of Slate Hill, along with James Brady, 33, of Kings Park, and Marko Markovich, 28, of Lake Ronkonkoma, were each found guilty of reckless endangerment, base jumping and reckless endangerment of property, all misdemeanors.  They were acquitted of a top charge of burglary.
The defendants climbed 104 flights to the tower’s communications ring where Brady, who was employed as an iron worker at the construction site, had previously hidden their equipment. They jumped off the ring and parachuted down, one landing on the West Side Highway and the others in the surrounding area.
A defense attorney argued against the reckless endangerment charge, claiming the men were “experts”.
The manager of a local bagel store saw one of the men land and called 911 to report it.
