NEWBURGH – A 24-year-old Maybrook
man was saved from an apparent drug overdose when Newburgh City Police
administered a dose of Narcan.

Police responded to a call of a one-car accident around 3 p.m. on Friday
at Water and Grand streets.

Officers found a man lying on his back, unresponsive, next to the vehicle.
Officer Jenerose, the first on the scene, found the man whose name police
did not make public, with a weak pulse, not breathing and showing signs
of a possible overdose.

Narcan was administered nasally resulting in the man becoming responsive
and alert.

A Mobile Life Support Services ambulance crew arrived and treated the
man before being transported to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, where
he refused further treatment.

After further investigation it was determined the man had possibly heroin
prior to being involved in the car accident.
