Man charged with ripping off bank by cashing bad checks

POUGHKEEPSIE – A Beacon man is in the Dutchess County Jail without bail on charges of criminal possession of a forged instrument and grand larceny for allegedly depositing several forged checks into his checking account and withdrawing cash before the checks were returned as fictitious.
As a result of the actions of Shason Burgess, 22, the credit union he scammed suffered a financial loss of over $11,000, State Police said.
