MAHOPAC – Carmel Police Chief Michael
Cazzari Monday released the identity of a man who was shot dead after
he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Mahopac home early Saturday morning.

Philip Miraglia of Mahopac was found dead in the residence with multiple
gunshot wounds.

The female victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to her leg, had called
police just before 2 a.m. to say he was trying to break in to kill her.
Police are withholding her name because of the domestic nature of the
attack.

When officers arrived on the scene minutes later, Miraglia was dead and
the woman was wounded.

Cazzari said the investigation is continuing and they are still looking
into how the victim came to possess Miraglia’s firearm.

An autopsy performed on Miraglia determined the cause of death to be gunshot
wounds to the torso with perforation of a lung, aorta, liver and mesentery.
