TOWN OF WALLKILL – A three-alarm fire destroyed one townhome and partially damaged another on Chaucer Court in the Town of Wallkill late Tuesday afternoon.

One home destroyed, another heavily damaged, minor damage to two others

Assistant Circleville Fire Chief Walter Szulwich said there was
some initial difficulty when firefighters arrived on the scene.
“The only difficult was there was a large amount of fire upon arrival and with a large amount of fire on arrival, it takes a good sum of water to get to knocked down quick so I would say no more than any other time, but it was just a large amount of fire and then getting everybody space and getting the equipment up and functioning,” Szulwich said.
Homes on either side of the damaged residences were saved because of the fire walls.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Orange County Fire Investigators Union. There were no injuries.
Between 50 and 60 firefighters from Circleville, Silver Lake, Mechanicstown, Bloomingburg, Washington Heights and the City of Middletown were on the scene.
