Gaetano to retire from law enforcement after 37-year career

GOSHEN – Orange County Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Gregory Gaetano will retire on April 22 after a 37-year year career in law enforcement.
Gaetano began his career as a dispatcher and auxiliary police officer with the New Windsor Police Department and joined the force in 1980.  He joined the sheriff’s office in January 2003 after the election of Sheriff Carl DuBois.
Gaetano holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Dutchess Community College, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Mercy College and a master’s degree in public administration from John Jay College CUNY.
He has taught at the Rockland Police Academy, the Orange County Police Chief’s Association Police Academy and other in-service police schools.
His accomplishments while at the sheriff’s office are many, including becoming an accredited assessor for the state’s Law Enforcement Accreditation Program and shepherded the office to receiving Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies accreditation status last month.
