Woman locks herself in car after hit-and-run accident

SAUGERTIES – A woman, who was wanted
in a hit-and-run pedestrian incident on Friday, gave Saugerties Police
a rough time when they tried to arrest her.

Tammy Candlin, 51, of Saugerties was located driving on Old Stage Road.

She failed to comply with orders to stop and accelerated down Route 9W
onto Glasco Turnpike where officers finally stopped her. She locked herself
inside and refused to get out. Officers made entry into the car as she
continued to physically restrain herself and refused to get out. Police
finally removed her from the car.

She was charged with obstructing governmental administration, failure
to comply, speeding and failure to signal. She was released on an appearance
ticket.
