State Police ask for public’s help in identifying driver who stopped motorist

MONROE –State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man, who stopped a female motorist on Route 17 west in Blooming Grove near exit 129 at about 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 22.
The man used a flashing light to stop her and was driving a dark sedan, possibly black and white. He was wearing blue clothing and identified himself as a police officer.
He secured the woman’s license and registration, returning the items to the woman after detaining her on the side of the road for some 20 minutes.
Anyone who may have witnessed this encounter or was driving past that area on Sunday evening at that time, or may have recorded the encounter, is asked to call the State Police BCI at Monroe at 845-782-7574 or send an email to FTips@troopers.ny.gov. All information will be kept confidential.
