MODENA – A Plattekill woman lost her life Tuesday afternoon when the car she was driving ran off Route 32 in Modena at 1:50 p.m. and struck a utility pole. Precious Newkirk, 25, was dead at the scene.
Investigation revealed she was northbound when her car left the road and struck the pole. Preliminary examination revealed that unsafe speed was a contributing factor, police said. The investigation is continuing.
State Police were assisted by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Plattekill Police, Plattekill Fire Department, Modena Fire and Rescue, New Paltz Fire and Mobile Life Support Services.
