NEWBURGH – In an effort to bring community policing back to Newburgh, foot patrols have started on Broadway.
City Manager Michael Ciaravino said the police department might be able to do more than what is budgeted as Senator William Larkin may seek an extra $75,000 for the effort.
Ciaravino said that would be a big boost to the program.
“This would have a tremendous impact on our opportunity to increase foot patrols and do it in a way that is sensitive to statistics,” he said. “We can target out foot patrols on a way that make the most effective use of that resource on the street.”
Newburgh officials also want to establish community satellites as part of its community policing effort.
