Long Island man charged with stealing copper pipes form former psych center

WINGDALE – A Westbury, Long Island man was arrested for allegedly stealing copper piping fittings from a building at the vacant former Wingdale Psychiatric Center.
Bulmaro Gonzalez, 43, of Westbury was charged on Friday with burglary and criminal possession of stolen property, both as felonies.
State Police from the Dover Plains barracks on patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle at the former psych center grounds. As troopers approached the vehicle, a man, later identified as Gonzalez, fled on foot. The vehicle was found to contain cut up pieces of copper pipes and fittings that had been stolen from a building on the grounds that had been broken into.
Gonzalez was sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
