ALBANY – A $5 billion bank settlement fund to New York State should be used exclusively for infrastructure upgrades, Senator John Bonacic (R, Mt. Hope) said.
Bonacic said the money should be dedicated to improve water, sewer and other such facilities.
“A piece of it may be grabbed for the Tappan Zee Bridge and that’s part of infrastructure and that would be okay, but upstate needs a lot of help with roads and bridges and sewer and water treatment,” he said.
Bonacic does not want to see the money to go into “a deep hole” including additional funding for education. The state will continue “to look out for education in the budget process,” he said.
