James W. Clark “Clarkie”, 77, of Port Ewen died Monday April 15, 2024, at home surrounded by his family and his beloved German Shepard June after fighting a long illness. Born June 12, 1946 in Kingston he was the son of the late George E. and Mary E. (Freer) Clark Sr.

James worked as a laborer for various construction companies throughout the area. He enjoyed playing his guitars, listening to music, playing jaw harp, hanging with old friends, especially his friend Phil. He loved the Yankees and NY Giants. Clarkie could always be found walking around with June by his side and there wasn’t a day he wasn’t outside throwing a toy with her. His final days were spent drinking his milk and apple juice, eating his ice cream, soaking up some sun and most of all being with his dog and his two sisters who were his best friends. Clarkie wouldn’t let anyone leave the house without telling them to be safe and to have a good day.

James is survived by: Daughters: Dione Letersky of NC, Trista Santiago of Hurley NY. Sons: Jamie Clark of Kerhonkson NY and John Clark (Sherie) of Merrimack NH. Sisters: Judy Iby of FL, Mary Beth Chiusano (Gary) of Port Ewen NY. Stepdaughter Nichole Pezzello-Clark of Port Ewen, NY, Stepdaughter Genevieve Buckman of Kingston NY. Survivors also include Cheryl McQuade (of SC) the mother of John and Nichole. He was predeceased by a brother George E. Clark Jr. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren survive.

Cremation was held privately. Inurnment will be held at Montrepose Cemetery at a later time that will be announced. In the meantime the family would like to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for their care and help in the process of Clarkie being home where he wanted to be.

Grab some tequila and cranberry and have a drink in his memory and blast some tunes, after all that is the Clarkie way!
