Claverack woman charged with being military deserter

HUDSON – A Claverack man was arrested by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of being a fugitive from justice.
Briana Ribeiro, 19, was taken into custody after deputies received confirmation from the US Navy Absentee Collection and Information Center, which reported that she was a military deserter from her current enlistment in Norfolk, Virginia. She was arraigned and held without bail awaiting extradition by the US Navy.
