WASHINGTON – Westchester County Airport at White Plains will receive $8.9 million and New York Stewart International Airport at Newburgh will receive $4 million in just-announced federal airport rescue grants to help them cover the massive losses incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The commercial airline business was decimated by the virus, which virtually shut down the entire industry for over a year.
In addition to airlines receiving federal aid in previous packages, the just-announced airport rescue grants also provide funding for individual airports impacted by the shutdown.
Smaller airports across the Hudson Valley each receiving $32,000 include Joseph Y Resnick in Ellenville, Orange County in Montgomery, Sullivan County International in Bethel, Hudson Valley Regional in Wappinger, and Warwick Municipal.
Columbia County Airport in Hudson was allocated $58,000.
Airports receiving no funding under this package include Kingston-Ulster, Randall in the Town of Wallkill, and Sky Acres in Millbrook.
