Greene County felon sentenced for possessing cocaine and firearm for drug trafficking

CATSKILL – A 24-year-old Catskill man was sentenced in Albany federal court on Tuesday to seven years in prison for possessing and intending to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, and for possessing firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

When Atniel Pagan pled guilty, he admitted to possessing at an apartment in Albany, 225 grams of cocaine and 22 grams of cocaine base that he intended to sell.

A previously convicted felon, Pagan he admitted to possessing a loaded, semi-automatic, AR-style ghost gun rifle, and a loaded semi-automatic ghost pistol, to guard against the potential theft of his drugs and drug money.

He was arrested by deputy US Marshals executing a state arrest warrant.

Pagan was also ordered to forfeit the guns and $738 seized from his apartment, pay a $5,000 fine and serve four years of post-release supervision.

The case was investigated by the US Marshals Service and Albany Police with assistance from the ATF and the Greene County District Attorney’s Office.
