RAMAPO – A man who was stabbed repeatedly while in his driveway on Trailside Place in the Town of Ramapo Thursday night is in stable condition, recovering in the hospital and is expected to survive, and police said on Friday that they have increased patrol presence throughout the town.

Officers located a possible suspect who was detained and brought to Ramapo Police headquarters for questioning and authorities said the individual was cooperative and released from custody pending further investigation.

The attack occurred in an Orthodox Jewish area of the town.

“While the motive in the attack is not yet known, the Rockland County Human Rights Commission refuses to normalize any form of animus informing such inhuman abhorrence against any group. Let us continue using our collective voices in sending a message that hate has no home in Rockland County and such incidents are totally unacceptable,” said Rockland County Human Rights Commissioner Spencer Chiimbwe.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Ramapo Police Department Investigations Division at 845-357-2400. All information will be kept confidential and can be made anonymously.

Information can also be provided through the TIPS 411 platform. Rockland residents can submit a tip via text message by texting the keyword “ROCKLANDCODA” and then their tip and sending it to 847411.

Ramapo Police were assisted at the scene by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkstown Police, Hatzolah Ambulance Corps, and Chaverim of Rockland.
