MIDDLETOWN – Investigators are still trying to piece together what prompted a man to stab two acquaintances to death on Monday afternoon at 33 Ruth Court in Middletown.

While police were able to track down and arrest the suspect, 30-year-old Kenol Baptiste, almost immediately, they don’t know what led to the murders.

Middletown Police Chief John Ewanciw said they do know the victims and the alleged killer were all of Haitian background and spoke Creole.

“In follow up with members of the community were are learning that this group of individuals moved in there about a year ago. Our suspect, due to fingerprinting responses, we learned that he came to the United States about eight months ago,” he said. “We are still trying to track back how, where, when.”

The chief said there does not appear to be any danger to the community at this time.
