NEW CITY – A Stony Point man has been arraigned on a murder charge and other crimes in connection with a homicide that occurred three years ago.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh said Robert Rodriguez, 36, was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon, arson, tampering with physical evidence and concealment of a human corpse.

It is alleged that on the evening of February 15, 2021, Rodriguez shot Ronald Mann on the property of Rodriguez’s home at 417 Call Hollow Road in Haverstraw. He then drove Mann’s car with the victim’s body inside to exit 16 on the Palisades Interstate Parkway Stony Point, where he parked the car in a snowbank on the side of the road near the exit in the early morning hours of February 16, 2021, doused he car with gasoline and set it on fire with Mann still inside.

Rodriguez then fled the scene.

An extensive investigation by State Police led to Rodriguez’s arrest on February 9, 2024.

He was remanded to the Rockland County Jail and indicted on February 14.

A news release from the DA’s office did not offer a motive for the murder.
