Protestors block entrance to business

WOODSTOCK – Some two dozen activists for a free Palestine have been blocking the main entrance from early morning at Ametek Rotron, a military contractor manufacturing facility in Woodstock.

The company is said to be in an ongoing relationship with the Israeli Defense Minister.

The group, calling itself Hudson No Valley Weapons 4 War, has banners reading, “Ametek Rotron manufactures genocide,” referring to the Israeli bombings of Gaza that has reportedly killed tens of thousands of civilians.

Woodstock Police are at the scene and town officials are meeting with State Police top brass to determine a course of action.

Lily Jones of Queens, a spokeswoman for the group, denied that the Israeli attacks on Gaza had anything to do with the Hamas brutal attacks and killing of some 1,700 Israeli. She said the issue dates back to 1948 when Israel became a state.

Jones also disputed Hamas’ repeated claims that they want to wipe Israel off the map and kill all Jews. She said the issue was the Israeli colonization of Israel 76 years ago.

The pro-Palestinian group also is “demanding Land Back for Palestinian people by bringing attention to Ameteck Rotrons’ direct genocide from the stolen land of the Mohican and Munsee Lenape peoples in the Hudson Valley.”
