BARRYVILLE – The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Barryville man on a family court child support warrant for allegedly owing over $8,700 in child payments since September 2023.

Undersheriff Eric Chaboty said Marcus Molnar, 46, has been hiding out in Wayne County, Pennsylvania since September.

Deputies recently noticed that Molnar placed a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Porsche automobile for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

The officers posed as potential buyers and contacted Molnar, who agreed to meet them on Dry Brook Road in Barryville. At about 2:25 p.m. this past Saturday, deputies went there in an undercover pickup truck and when Molnar approached the truck, the deputies, who were in uniform, jumped out and made the arrest.

As per the family court warrant, Molnar was sent to the Sullivan County Jail for 60 days.

Molnar is also wanted by the Pennsylvania State Police on a warrant charging theft of property. He is being held for Pennsylvania as a fugitive from justice pending further court action.

Sheriff Mike Schiff said his office has been “on a roll” lately executing five family court child support arrest warrants in the last 10 days.

With several more warrants in the pipeline, the sheriff acknowledged Sgt. Blake Starner who led the agency’s efforts to hold “deadbeat parents” accountable.
