Felon and former lawmaker back in jail

POUGHKEEPSIE- Convicted felon and former Dutchess County Legislator Michael Kelsey, 45, has been arrested by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

The December 5 arrest on undisclosed charges resulted in Kelsey being held at the Dutchess County Jail.

Kelsey was a Boy Scout leader who was convicted in 2016 of sexually assaulting a scout in his care and attempting to sexually assault another scout in 2014.  He was confined in state prison until his May, 2022 release.

As part of his sentence, Kelsey is on post-release Supervision until 2030.
