MIDDLETOWN- The SUNY Orange Foundation will host a Night Golf Event to raise funds for SUNY Orange athletic scholarships on September 15, 2023, at Stony Ford Golf Course in Montgomery.

Athletic scholarships are an important part of the recruitment and admissions process for SUNY Orange athletes.  Scholarships help the College recruit talented athletes as well as excellent students.  This past season, the SUNY Orange men’s basketball team played in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II basketball tournament for just the second time in program history.  The sixth-seeded Colts advanced to the Final Four for the first time ever, capping a record-setting season in which they finished with 31 wins against just three losses.  Most of the players were scholarship recipients and the money raised from this event last year helped them achieve this incredible experience.

Erin, an athletic scholarship recipient, shared the following with the Foundation:  “This athletic scholarship is very important to me and motivates me to pursue excellence in my academic and athletic careers.  I am going to be a first-generation graduate, and the first of four siblings to seek the benefits of higher education.  I plan on becoming a teacher, and a coach, so I can teach students in the classroom and on the field.  One of my goals is to help all kids be comfortable in their own body and gain confidence in who they are; because the more confident they are in themselves, the more likely they are to succeed and pursue their dreams.  Students come from all walks of life, I want to stress the importance of embracing diversity and teach them the importance of working together.  Again, thank you for this donation. I am grateful for the people in this world who already want to see me make my dreams a reality.”

To help more students like Erin, take the opportunity to sponsor or attend the SUNY Orange Foundation Night Golf Event by visiting www.sunyorangefoundation.org/golf.

The event will begin with dinner and drinks at 5:00 p.m., followed by a golf cart decorating contest at 6:30 p.m. Tee time will be 7:00 p.m., with contests and prizes sprinkled throughout the evening.  Tickets and sponsorships are still available on the SUNY Orange Foundation website.  All proceeds directly benefit the Athletic Scholarship Fund.
