YONKERS – Escaped prisoner Geraldo Rojas, who got away from Westchester  County Correctional Department officers while being transferred from Saint Joseph’s Hospital to the county jail on Sunday, was recaptured on Monday, police said.

Rojas was arrested on Friday, July 21 by Yonkers Police for several robberies in that city.

On the 22nd, before he could appear in court, he suffered a medical event requiring Yonkers officers to take him to the hospital where he was arraigned and remanded to the county jail awaiting trial.

At around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Rojas was able to give the officers the slip, but investigators were able to track his escape route by reviewing hours of surveillance video around the city.
