Judge Rahemba

FISHKILL – Town Justice and practicing attorney Robert Rahemba, submitted his resignation to Fishkill Town Supervisor Ozzy Albra on Thursday, June 1, 2023.  The 76-year-old judge is leaving the bench on August 1, even though his term runs through the end of December.  He has served as town justice since 2011.  Mid-Hudson News was told that Rahemba has sold his residence and will be moving out of the area in August.

Rahemba plans to assist his replacement by clearing cases currently before him.  “It is my intention to use the time between the date of this letter and August 1 to close out as many matters as possible that are presently pending before the court and be available to help the transition from my occupancy of the office to whomever the board may appoint to replace me if that appointment occurs before August 1,” the judge wrote in his resignation.

Sources have told Mid-Hudson News that the Republican town board members Carmine Istvan, Brian Wrye, and John Forman are likely going to name another attorney, Ray Raiche, to fill the vacancy created by Rahemba’s early departure.  Raiche is familiar with town hall.  In  October of 2018, town board member Tom Adams passed away and Raiche was named to fill the vacancy in 2019. Raiche ran unsuccessfully in November of that year to keep the position.  The November race had four candidates vying for two seats and Raiche finished third, forcing him off the board.
