Ben's Fresh in Port Jervis was recognized by the New York Beef Council for having one of the "Best Burgers" in New York State.

PORT JERVIS- Ben’s Fresh on East Main Street in Port Jervis has ranked 4th in the statewide “Best Burger” contest held by the New York Beef Council.

The New York Beef Council asked burger lovers statewide to vote for their favorite restaurant, and the Benny Burger from Ben’s Fresh raked in votes to finish among the top burgers in the state.

“The Benny Burger is a classic American burger,” said Chef Bobby Geraghty of Ben’s Fresh.  “But what sets the Benny Burger apart from everything else is our secret sauce.  Our signature sauce, that we call Benny Sauce, is like a zesty-mayo, so to speak.  That really helps pull all of the flavors of the burger together and leaves a little bit of zing at the end.”

Chef Geraghty explained exactly what goes into the Benny Burger.  “Our Benny Burger itself is lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and the signature Benny Sauce.”

The fries, which are made in peanut oil, are also a customer favorite at the restaurant.  “Every single week, we go through between 1,000 and 2,000 pounds of fresh potatoes,” said Geraghty.

“I had a double cheeseburger with fries, and it was excellent,” said one patron.  “I will definitely stop by and have another.”
