Newburgh fire displaces 20 people

NEWBURGH – A two-alarm fire Saturday evening damaged an apartment building on 428 Liberty Street in the City of Newburgh displacing some 20 residents.

The Red Cross was called in to assist. There were no injuries reported.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found fire venting from a third-floor window on the front of the building.

Officials said the fire appears to be electrical in nature.

Mutual aid assistance came from West Point, Stewart Air Guard Base, City of Beacon and Cronomer Valley departments.
