City cops remove suspect and ghost gun from neighborhood

POUGHKEEPSIE – A 23-year-old Poughkeepsie resident is facing felony gun and misdemeanor drug charges after running from police on Wednesday night.  Dmarus Morris was held for arraignment after being arrested around 8:00 p.m. on March 1, 2023.

City of Poughkeepsie police attempted to conduct a field interview in the area of Main and North White Streets at approximately 7:45 p.m. when a subject, later identified as Dmarus Morris immediately ran from the officers.  While the officers were chasing Morris he dropped a loaded 9mm polymer handgun, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun”.

The weapon was recovered by police and Morris was transported to police headquarters for processing.
