MONROE – A fire on Highland Avenue just before 1:00 a.m. on Thursday has claimed the lives of three residents. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of the next of kin. Police and fire personnel responded to the report of a house fire on Highland Avenue at 12:55 a.m.
First responders arrived and found the house fully engulfed in flames. Neighbors indicated that the residents were possibly still inside. Flames and high heat prohibited any rescue attempts until firefighters were able to contain the blaze.
The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
