TOWN OF WOODBURY – Divers spent three hours searching a pond in the Town of Woodbury on Friday afternoon over concern that a child may have fallen through ice.
The scene unfolded at Vanderbilt and University drives.
Police said neighbors found holes in the ice and a child’s belongings nearby.
It was unclear if a child was actually missing at the time, but State Police and fire department dive teams from Orange and Rockland counties were called in as a precaution.
Police said the search was called off after nearly three hours when no one was found in the water.
State Police are handling the investigation.
