RED HOOK – A 42-year-old Germantown woman was issued tickets for failing to stop for a school bus with lights and stop sign activated and improper use of a lane, after being caught on a camera mounted on the bus.  Sergeant Patrick Hildenbrand, the Officer-in-Charge of the Red Hook Police Department,  provided details of the incident to a group of business leaders in Red Hook.

According to Sergeant Hildenbrand, his department received a complaint on Friday regarding a vehicle that had passed a stopped school bus, while its lights and stop sign were activated.  The Red Hook School District officials reported the incident to the police on January 20th.  The school district has recently authorized the installation of cameras on buses that also record license plate information.  The cameras were installed for the safety of students and motorists alike.

Hildenbrand told Mid-Hudson News that his investigating officers reviewed the camera footage provided by the district and were able to identify the vehicle and driver.  Red Hook police officers made contact with the woman and issued her tickets for failing to stop for a school bus with lights and stop sign activated and improper use of a lane.  The motorist has been scheduled to appear in Red Hook Court at a future date to answer the violations.
