YONKERS – Shots rang out at around 7:40 Wednesday morning in the area of Lamartine Avenue at Warburton Avenue in Yonkers with reports of injuries or property damage.
Yonkers Police investigators located a crime scene with ballistic evidence and stopped a suspect vehicle a short distance away.
A nearby school was placed on precautionary lockdown for the duration of the outside police activity.
Preliminary investigation has yielded that a suspect fired a gun at that location.
A person of interest was located and placed into custody with criminal charges anticipated.
The investigation is continuing.
Police said there is no threat to public safety at this time.
