Gov. Kathy Hochul

NEW YORK – Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul, who took over after Andrew Cuomo resigned, has defeated Republican Lee Zeldin to capture a full four-year term in the state’s top post.

The state’s voter registration is dominated by Democrats.

Zeldin based his campaign on what he said was failed criminal justice reform as promoted by the Democrats.

Hochul noted that Zeldin did not vote to certify the presidential election declaring Joe Biden as leader of the free world.
