WARWICK – It appears to be an epidemic of thieves stealing used cooking oil from area restaurants.

The oil is usually purchased by a company like Buffalo Biodiesel, refined, and resold for other purposes.

These latest heists both took place in the Town of Warwick on September 11 and were reported to law enforcement on October 26.

One theft took place at the Jolly Onion Inn in Pine Island. The other occurred at the Warwick Kitchen in the town.

Last week a Middletown man was arrested and charged with stealing used cooking oil from businesses in the City of Kingston.

Weeks ago, used oil was reported stolen from Middletown area eateries.
