ALBANY – Job growth in the Hudson Valley leisure and hospitality sector grew the most over the past year in July, the State Labor Department said.
A total of 8,800 new jobs were created.
Professional and business services was not far behind with 8,200 new jobs while education and health services rose by 6,000 jobs.
The other services category saw an increase of 4,000 jobs while natural resources, mining and construction had 2,800 jobs added; trade, transportation and utilities saw 2,500 new jobs; manufacturing added 700 jobs; and information saw 500 new jobs.
Job losses were centered in financial activities, at 1,400.
In the greater Hudson Valley/Catskill region, Sullivan County had the highest growth rate at 11.6 percent. That was followed by the Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metro Area with 4.5 percent growth.
The Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan Division and Ulster County each saw 1.8 percent job growth.
Greene County had a loss of one percent of its jobs while Columbia County jobs fell by 1.8 percent and Delaware County lost 2.8 percent of its jobs.
Statewide, New York had 5.5 percent job growth in the 12 month period in July.
