MONTICELLO – The Sullivan County Legislature Thursday voted to commit up to $15 million as its share to construct a SUNY Sullivan aquatic and recreation center at the Loch Sheldrake campus.

The state education department would commit an equal amount.

County Legislator Mike Brooks said this facility would provide great benefits to the college and the county.

“Innovative things to a degree can only enhance Sullivan County Community College and people would be attracted more than ever to really look at Sullivan County Community College. I think this is the beginning of something to be truly excited about the future of not only the college, but the county,” he said.

The county will now begin the process of exploring the design and other aspects of the work.
