Two-year-old who walked away from home found okay later

MONTGOMERY – A two-year-old child who went missing from a residence on Powers Lane in the Town of Montgomery at about 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, was found in a heavily wooded area about an hour-and-a-half later.

Police from several agencies assisted in the search with the little boy being located at around 8:18 p.m. after being tracked by Middletown K-9 Officer Jason Berman and his K-9 Hunter along with Officer Estremera.

He sustained some minor scratches and was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill for further evaluation by the Town of Montgomery Ambulance Corps.

Also assisting in the search were the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and their K-9, State Police along with their aviation unit, Village of Montgomery Police who provided ATV support and Middletown Police.

Also assisting were fire departments from Montgomery, Coldenham, Winona Lake and Walden.
