KINGSTON – A 31-year-old Kerhonkson man who said he wanted suicide by cop, pled guilty in Ulster County Court on Wednesday to menacing a police officer when he pointed a pellet gun at him.

David Stephens pled guilty to the felonies of menacing a police officer and driving while intoxicated.

On January 2 of this year, a state trooper pulled him over for a vehicle and traffic infraction and as Stephens opened his door, he had a pellet gun in his hand raised at waist level and visible to the trooper.

The trooper administered standard field sobriety tests and Stephens was found to be driving with a blood alcohol content of .17, more than twice the legal limit. He was also driving with a revoked license for a prior DWI conviction from a year earlier.
