NEWBURGH – United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, speaking in Newburgh on Friday, warned of Russian nuclear threats to the United States if America escalates the war in Ukraine.

“The reason we don’t want to escalate the war is because Russia has many nuclear weapons which they can easily launch against New York State, Washington DC, against California; any state in the country could be a target.”

Gillibrand cautioned that escalating the war in Ukraine into a world war would result in millions of deaths around the globe.  “We are trying to give Ukraine the tools to win,” and is calling for more sanctions against Russian oligarchs and military leaders who have assets in countries around the world.

Senator Gillibrand also addressed rising gasoline prices stateside and noted that the war is not to blame.  According to the senator, America is no longer buying oil from Russia and the rising prices are the result of price-gouging by oil companies and called for an immediate investigation into the price increases.
